The Social Startup Toolkit – written by Philip Ely, designed by Chil3 and published by UnLtd – is now available to download.
This open-source version of the Toolkit is available for free for social entrepreneurs and the printed version may be available to purchase soon.
The Social Startup Toolkit was originally developed as part of Social Startup Portsmouth, a partnership of UnLtd, University of Portsmouth, Cathedral Innovation and Highbury College. One of the pilot programmes as part of the UnLtd SEE Change programme, Social Startup supported social entrepreneurs in the South of England through workshop, networking, mentoring and resources. One of these resources is the open-source Social Startup Toolkit.
We’ve re-designed the toolkit, with the help of Chil3 here in Fremantle, Western Australia.
We believe that designers have an important role to play in helping communities help themselves whilst they make money in the process. Social enterprises balance the demands of a social good as their mission (for people and/or planet) with making a profit to sustain themselves economically.
